Stand-up comedian Dave Thornton – 2011 Summer Intensive

“I was never taught any formal acting or presenting skills and felt I needed to know the mechanics of it better.  The Rehearsal Room's technique is a practical and easy method for me to consciously make my performance malleable.

It was that and the cake he made that really made the experience worthwhile” - Dave Thornton February '11

Find out ... HOW REHEARSAL ROOM PROCESS WORKS!!
Summer Acting Intensive.

DAY ONE – A process refresher. How believable are you or can we tell you are acting? How quickly can you find your place in the story and the scene? How quickly can you change? Is your acting process a balance of the intuitive and the logical? Is it is easy to manage?

DAY TWOTrusting Impulses & Blocking. Actor driven blocking. Director driven blocking. Finding reasons for the things you do. A day spent getting some practice.

MICK CAHILL & LAUREN WALSH shooting a scene in the Summer Intensive 2009

DAY THREE – Monologues. A great test of performance skill. But there are simple tricks to performing monologues. This is a great workshop in itself.

DAY FOUR – Television Technique. Understanding the TV proscenium (Acting for the Close Up). And rehearsing a scene. (You will also rehearse the scene you will be shooting on Day 5.)

DAY FIVE – Shooting Your Scene – We will shoot your scene on a location. You will be allocated approximately 4 shots per scene and a reasonable number of takes. At the end of the day we will have an assessment session to analyse the outcomes.

A light lunch is supplied on all days.

Editing and DVD: If you are happy with your scene you can decide if you want The Rehearsal Room to edit it for you. For an extra cost of $80 you can have your scene edited and dubbed to a DVD. This option can be chosen after you have seen the outcome of the shoot.

Preparation: Prior to the commencement of the Workshop you will need to submit a 2-character scene that you are interested in shooting on the final day. (You can choose a scene in which there is a third minor character if you wish.) The scene should be no longer than two minutes. It isn’t guaranteed that your scene will be selected to be shot – you may be cast in a scene that someone else has suggested. All scenes will be cast from members of this class. Actors will supply their own wardrobe.

These classes are based on workshops that have been conducted previously and have very high approval ratings from participants.

Maximum of 8 places available.

COST: $700
DEPOSIT: $150
