“EVENING MASTERCLASS - 2"

DATES: 4th Term 2010 - Tuesday 12th October to 7th December (9 weeks, each session 2.5 hour)
TIMES: 7.00pm - 9.30pm
VENUE: The Rehearsal Room, 18 Clendon Road, Armadale.

A NEW MASTER CLASS WORKSHOP FOR THIS TERM ONLY - THIS WORKSHOP IS ALSO OPEN TO ACTORS WHO HAVE NO PREVIOUS REHEARSAL ROOM EXPERIENCE.

Translating Direction

This class is for actors with a working process who wish to expand their skills.

How to work with directors? - TWO directors have been booked to assist with the class - for session 5 GRANT BROWN (City Homicide, Under Belly etc) and for session 10 CHRIS ADSHEAD (Neighbours).

These sessions will provide actors with the opportunity to collaborate with working directors.  The aim is to test and expand actors capabilities in taking direction.

Questions to explore …

  • How to ask questions and what questions are appropriate?
  • Does the actor have to do everything the director has asked for?  How to decide?
  • How to negotiate a different option?
  • What are the options when you don’t understand the direction?
  • How to deal with blocking?
  • Can you change a move?

As well as these issues in the remaining classes actors will work with Richard Sarell and get feedback on how to move acting processes forward.

There will be a mixture of Rehearsal Room actors and experienced actors who use their own individual method in this class.

  • Rehearsal Room actors will build experience at working with actors and directors who have a different vocabulary to them
  • Actors new to the Rehearsal Room experience will have the opportunity to assess and build on Rehearsal Room principles.
  • Everyone gets the opportunity for feedback from working directors.

A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO UNDERSTAND MORE ABOUT THE VARIETY OF DIRECTING APPROACHES.
