Off-Cut: Seven Some thoughts from Australian actor and comedian, best known for his creation of Dame Edna Everage, Barry Humphries Barry Humphries, lover of music hall and variety, and the creator and performer of Dame Edna Everage, often described as "the Grand Dame", acknowledges that a significant part of the craft of building a performance is to create a world "that, however absurd, is utterly believable". No matter what form a performance takes the creation of a believable world seems to be one of the essential ingredients. Barry Humphries was interviewed by Giles Brandreth for the London Telegraph and his article "Ain't nothing like a dame" was reprinted in "The Age"in Melbourne on Friday 16th June 2000.
