Weekend Acting Classes

Introductory and Advanced Workshops start on Sunday 12th November. These classes build the foundations of the unique Rehearsal Room performance process. All these classes are given by director Richard Sarell.

The Introductory classes provide a simple practical approach to Stanislavski process. Usually confusing and challenging here you will find techniques that are practical, commonsense and professional. The Advanced Workshop uses the processes developed in the first class to explore and extend active listening. It's good listening that makes performances very real. For more …

Meetings - Good Value

Twenty actors met with Brian Drillinger at The Rehearsal Room over two days and shared their experiences. Brian’s enthusiatic commitment to performance was infectious and there were many experiences shared. Brian had stories of a successful audition for a Neil Simon’s play on Broadway while others contributed their memorable audition experiences. Both gatherings were enjoyable, inspiring and productive.

As a result a 6-week Voice Class is being held on Tuesday nights at The Rehearsal Room. A number of other actors have booked private lessons with Brian. For those interested there is still opportunity to do private lessons as he is staying in Melbourne until the middle of December.

The Value of Skill

The value of performance skill can never be under-rated. That’s the ingredient that makes an actor stand out from the crowd. Just look at the work of the actors in “Little Miss Sunshine”. This is a film that everyone is raving about - a film with a strong quirky story and beautiful performances. That true beauty lies in the actor’s skill is explored in the new Performance Perspectives article on “Little Miss Sunshine” now available in the Green Room.

The Rehearsal Room focuses on building productive performance skills to help actors stand out. Its aim is to enable actors to identify their tasks clearly, to be believable while they are executing them and to be able to successfully make quick changes.

SUSAN POPOV has been exploring the Rehearsal Room way for over a year now. She recently wrote “Just letting you know I got the presenting gig we talked about last night…. another Rehearsal Room process success.” Good acting performance process will work for a presenter as well.

HOPING FOR THE BEST
There is still hope that JULES LUND might be available for a one-day presenting workshop in December. The Rehearsal Room is awaiting further news on this possibility. Jules is currently busy with Channel Nine’s “Big Questions”.

Monologues
Are you always looking for a fresh and original monologue? The Rehearsal Room is exploring practical ways to provide original monologues for actors. If you have written a monologue then this may be a way of sharing your writing with other actors and also getting some remuneration for your efforts. Perhaps you know a writer who would be interested. If you want to discuss these possibilities then get in touch. (To email)
